One day, over 700,000 websites went crashing down, rendered
completely inactive, all because of a serious and deliberate attack on
the entire InMotion Hosting company. What seems to have happened is
hackers copied over the index.php in many directories (public_html,
wp-admin), deleted the my images directory and added index.php
files where they weren't needed. Many of these 700,000 websites
represented the day-to-day livelihood of many of InMotion's hosting
clients. For sure, there would have been a number of business owners who
would have closed or shut down because of what happened.
Now, if these affected online business owners had a backup of their website, they could then upload their index.php files to correct this problem, which they'll have to do for each directory. If their site used an index.HTML or index.htm, they will need to upload those files, then delete the index.php.
I don't really know how many did keep a backup of their website (if you personally haven't, please do, today!), but I do know this; if my entire online business crumbled today, went into meltdown, I'd be up and running and making profits in a fairly short period of time. All because of a couple of very important things.
1. I have secure backups of all websites.
2. I have all customer names, both email and postal addresses, stored in a secure place, both electronic copies and manual copies.
The fact is if the customer names are intact, I can be up and running and in business tomorrow, and run it from a space as confined as a phone box. And I mean that quite literally. All I need is a laptop and a small amount of space to work from. The key is having access to all customer files. So, the first thing I would do to create a little momentum and activity by creating a simple direct mail promotion to send to my customers.
Now in addition to having access to your important customer files, the other essential thing is in ensuring you have a back-up storage of all your customers' details, which must be kept in an external, remote place (not merely stored electronically). Doing this is the most valuable thing you can do because your customers are, quite literally, your entire business. Lose them and you'll have to start all over again. But you can avoid that pain, frustration and heartache by simply ensuring you have your customer files, their records, their complete details backed up and stored in a safe, remote, external place.
When the World Trade Centre Towers were destroyed, the businesses that were able to pick up the pieces from the obvious devastation were those business who kept their customer data files intact. And that was the key because when the time was right, they were able to communicate to their customers and clients in order to start the business wheels churning again. And that's despite the fact that their buildings and offices were sent crashing to the ground.
Now, if these affected online business owners had a backup of their website, they could then upload their index.php files to correct this problem, which they'll have to do for each directory. If their site used an index.HTML or index.htm, they will need to upload those files, then delete the index.php.

Wintering in the Sun With Affiliate Marketing
Where will your future lead you? Life is a bit like a game of cards,
you don't know what will turn up next! Sometimes you come up trumps and
other times you lose. You can't anticipate the results, you can learn
the rules and apply suitable strategies but you can only guess the
outcome.
Quite often my partner and I will have a simple game of cards and for a while we appeared quite evenly matched and then for no apparent reason, for 6 weeks I lost every game, but now things have swung the other way and I am on a winning streak. How similar the ups and downs of life is.
Talking to a friend the other night I learnt she fell down 24 concrete steps and only suffered bruising no broken bones, whereas I had a fall whilst our walking and have been in plaster for 5 weeks. However luck and a good constitution have blessed me and already my bones have healed and the cast comes off in a week.
We can then return to our favourite beaches and I hope walking along the sand. Soon perhaps the sea-water will have warmed again and another summer season arrives in sunny Spain. We are lucky enough to be wintering in Spain and enjoying the sunshine rather than snow wind and rain that is being experienced in England.
So despite my mishap which is obviously frustrating we have enjoyed our first winter in Spain. The people are friendly both the ex-pats and the Spanish people we have met. The medical treatment I received has been excellent but would have been much easier if I could have spoken and understood Spanish. A warning to would be travellers!
So hopefully I can work on that before next winter. We will be returning to our summer abode in May when England is fresh and green again. Was it a good choice to buy our winter home in Spain, yes I think so, sunshine every day certainly lifts your spirits.

This morning I watched a webinar on Facebook marketing by a
very dynamic and enthusiastic Fred Lam. He ended by offering expert
training on growing your business at an exponential rate. Sounded good
but beyond my budget. However he did offer some excellent tips so for
anyone wanting expert advise on economic, and effective Facebook

The first thing he said was minimise your expenditure whist you are testing, always begin by spending only $5. and continue doing this every day with whatever web-pages you are promoting. When you see which ads are working upgrade your spend, but not until then.
He suggested the ads could sell anything from physical products to downloadable eBooks. The advantages you are growing your email list and earning from the products, therefore making a profit whilst growing your list.
I guess by retargeting your ads you can capture "the ones that got away" and give them repeated viewings of your ad. retargeting is set up to capture people who read the ad and didn't respond, it is then displayed to them again when they are online. For example you may be viewing a page and suddenly the ad pops up, reminding you may be interested, this continues for a few days, and is proven to achieve more sales for a low-cost.
Another point he made was only to target one country per advertisement, because many countries are English-speaking but the way the people respond is different, and as you are testing your ads, this will skew the results.
Also carefully consider the age range you are targeting according to your product offered. When targeting your audience choose groups from different angles of interest. His example was cat lovers and fashion lovers to sell cat T-shirts. Therefore considering your audience from different angles. Target only the closest match, and only advertising to the overlapping group; they are then a highly targeted audience. This is achieved by clicking narrow audience.
Fred said his current success rate is 120% profit after expenses by using this system. It hasn't always been like this but he has fine-tuned his ads, we are unlikely to achieve such good results with our first ads but by testing and refining them some ads will be winners.
You are also growing a responsive email list. His final comments were don't expect instant success it has taken him 10 years to fine tune his methods; so we are lucky to benefit from his expertise, and sharing his success for which I am grateful, anything that brings success more quickly is an advantage!

When I first decided to take the plunge and start my own online home
business, I had all the wrong ideas. I had seen all the "businesses in a

that, to be successful with an online home business, you need to have a
certain kind of businesslike mindset.
First, you need self-discipline. You're going to work your tail off sometimes. You're going to have days when you're staying up late and getting up early. There will be times when you have no idea how it's all going to get done. And your new business is not going to start throwing money at you overnight. You should expect to be working long, often boring hours, especially when you are first starting your online business. Most online entrepreneurs work over 50 hours a week, especially when they are first establishing their business. At least 20 of those hours are devoted to marketing their business. These new business owners realize that they can't just sit back and wait for their customers to beat a path to their door. They have to be where their customers are - on search engines, forums, blogs, email, and social media.
This need for marketing know-how leads into a second point - you need business management knowledge and skills. If you don't already have those skills and knowledge, you may need to take classes, get advice, and educate yourself. An online business is still a business, and all the same business principles that apply to a brick-and-mortar firm also apply to an online enterprise. You need to understand profit and loss and how each is measured. You need to know how to use the various marketing tools, both online and offline. You need some understanding of business law. You need to be able to set up a business plan and make good business decisions.

Laptop Success With Affiliate Marketing
Aren't laptops a great asset? What do you use yours for? Does it
earn its keep? I'm sure others like the newer smaller devices but I like
a laptop, the keys are bigger also the screen. I have quite a light
model so can take it anywhere. It also has great storage capacity.
Although I must say I haven't tried cloud storage, I think the
disadvantages would be if you are out and about without Wi-Fi you
couldn't even access your files. I am a prolific writer so can find
something to do without Wi-Fi if necessary.

How to Find an Online Business Idea That Works
You can't take all your internet marketing information and say that's proof that you'll sell online.
You could take ALL of the things that I sharing with you, or another teacher shares with you, and set up your own shop online, and find it doesn't work. You could do none of this, and set your own shop up online, and find that whatever it is that you're trying to sell works. I'm a big believer in just get out there and do it, and find out what works.
If you have an interest in a topic, don't spend the next 12 months trying to figure out if is this the best topic for you. Some people take 2 to 5 years trying to figure out their topic, and by the time they do they find that all the competition has beat them to the market.
Instead, get out there today, put a website up there, start finding targeted visitors, and just see what happens.
How to Get Ideas to Test
You can look at what people are doing and buying offline. One place you look is the bookstores, local bookstores. Another place you can look is the late-night infomercials. 1:00am, 2:00am, 3:00am. It would be worth it to skip sleep for one night and just watch all the late-night infomercials, especially if you're struggling to find a niche.
Have a notepad beside you. Have a pot of coffee, and a notepad. There's an infomercial on every other channel at 1am! You can get 50 infomercial type topics at 1:05am, 50 more at 1:35am, 50 more at 2:05am, and by the time the rest of your family wakes up it's 7:00am, and you've gotten a lot of data. You've got 500 infomercials and their related topics. Group those together: 100 were on this topic, and 75 were on this topic, and 55 were on this topic, 45 were on this topic.
This gives you a pretty good idea of what people are buying in the middle of the night. If they're buying it in the middle of the night, they're buying it during the day. If they're buying it on the infomercial, they're buying it on Amazon. If they're buying it on infomercial, they're buying it on somebody's website. In fact, you'll find with so many of those infomercials, there are websites associated with them. The infomercial is just one branch to the selling!
So, for example, if you do a web search on the name of the person on the infomercial, you'll often find they have a book, they have a seminar, they have a DVD, they have something on Amazon. The infomercial is just one sales channel. So, if you can find it on the infomercial, it probably sells somewhere else.
Another Source of Hot Topics
Another place you can go is the business success magazines, like Fortune Magazine, Success Magazine, Entrepreneur Magazine, I think there's one out there called Creativity. You look at the local bookstore, and not the small one, the big one, the biggest bookstore in your state. Take a drive and buy a copy of every one of those magazines. I've done basically this before. I've gone in and bought a stack of those magazines.

All Marketing Propaganda Aside, Can Anyone Really Start A Successful Online Business?
The big answer to that big question is a resounding yes! I believe
anyone can do anything as long as they are in alignment and have the
right system in place. And while this is a question that most people
will throw at you just to scrutinize ones response, I am not really
interested in whether or not "anyone" can do it, but whether "you" think
you can do it. And if you would like to do it, then allow me to show
you how... So here's the best question in my opinion:
Do you think it's possible for "me" to be able to start a business from scratch even if I don't have any prior experience or formal education?
I not only think so, I believe it! I can almost bet that you've had more formal schooling than I did if you're reading this. And you must have had some basic computer lessons... I had none of these and I still started a wonderful business that is fast growing and already scalable beyond what others who've had many years of experience currently have. What's the secret?
It's actually an open secret that very few people know that's why wealth has only been circulating among very few individuals. Until now...

And through my journey I realized that freedom was more than just having food on the table for my family and I. Prosperity was more than just having enough to pay bills; and I really wanted to have real freedom and prosperity.
