The Key Steps For Success In Any Business

f you are like most newbie entrepreneurs out there you want to buy the latest and greatest tools that are available out there on the web today and start earning some sort of income that is at least comparable with what you make in your regular day job. The problem with that thought process though is that the expectation of the majority of us is that we can start becoming successful in the world of Internet marketing very quickly and in reality that is hardly ever the case.
Having the motivation and drive to start a business online is a great first start. The rest of this article is going to focus on the key steps that you should follow (with an open mind) each and every time that will enable you to have all of the tools and information at your disposal to create a sustainable business model on the Internet. I will also add, mind you, that the following steps, as simple as they are going to sound to you when you read them, are very powerful indeed if followed correctly. So with that let's dig into these steps:
(1.) Ask Yourself "What is my "WHY"?" - Many of us just jump from one business opportunity to the next with the goal of making money but in many cases the money is needed so that the real underlying objective can be reached. Some examples of "why" could be to spend more time with your family, travel the world, buy the red Ferrari and so forth. In many instances, money buys us the most valuable asset that we will ever encounter and that is called "time". So, know your why before you roll up your sleeves and get to work.
(2.) Define where you are today as well as your desired goal - The same way you need a map to show you where you are and where you want to go the same principle applies here. One best practice is to define your ultimate goal e.g. make over $30,000 per month and then define a set of mini mile stones in between. That way the overall journey does not seem too daunting and you can have mini celebrations every time you make the smaller milestones as you inch ever closer to the final goal.
(3.) Develop a plan of action on how you are going to get from point A to point B where point A is your current situation and point B being your ultimate goal - List all of the resources and tools that you are going to need and then identify what you currently have. This is a good exercise because you can then see what resources that you do not have and now you will have to be creative in finding ways to get those resources. The good news is that at this point you now know what you want to accomplish, how you are going to accomplish it and with what resources.
(4.) Take action and implement your plan - This is the fun part where you actually go about executing your plan. This may involve building systems and putting processes in place to enable your customers to buy a product or service and may also involve other people in a team that you are building that may be hired to do some form of work that contributes to the overall business model. Some examples of hired help may be to get people to do cold calling for prospects on the phone, designing and building your website, following up with new recruits to your business and so forth. Ideally, it would be great if you could build a business that in time requires less and less of your presence so that you can end up spending time doing the things that you truly love.
(5.) Be prepared to fail and treat these as learning opportunities - Chances are that you are going to fall flat on your face for the first couple of attempts. This is 100% normal and is part of the business building process. Simply treat these events as opportunities to learn what does not work and make your modification to your business model and try again. Keep repeating this process until you start to see success.
(6.) Scale up your actions - At this point you have ironed out the kinks and you know what works. This is where the success really begins to show because it is at this point that you scale up your actions doing the things that work from pint number 5.
Most business building attempts usually fail because many of us do not take the time on step number 5. We often get dejected and give up or we simply hide behind the excuse that "this system does not work" and move on to the next shiny object that we come across.
By being focused and persistent, willing to learn from failure and having the stamina to keep going whatever the odds will differentiate you from the masses and get you on that path to success. I always like to compare building a business to a space rocket taking off from the Earth. The first couple of minutes need the most work where the rocket has to burn thousands of gallons of fuel to get into space at an escape velocity of 11.2 km/second, but once it is in space it takes a very small effort to move throughout space - thanks to Newtons Laws of Force!
Anyway, those are the key steps that you can apply in any business, be it an online business, Internet marketing opportunity or an affiliate marketing business. Follow these and you should be okay.
